How to Properly Take Care of Your Skin
Specialists recommend we drink plenty of water and use sunscreen when out in the sun, especially during the summer
Dark circles under the eyes, wrinkles, dry skin, uneven skin tone, and more, are all signs that your skin is not being well taken care of. We are strong believers in the fact that health from within shows on the outside. Therefore, in order to have our outside – that is our skin – looking healthy, we must make sure we are doing everything in our power to be healthy inside. That means having a balanced lifestyle, in which we combine a rich and nutritious diet with regular exercise, making sure we hydrate ourselves properly, while also taking care of both our mental and emotional wellbeing.
Follow the advice below if you want to have a beautiful skin that will last for years to come:
Both first hand and second-hand smoking can seriously harm your skin. It was proven that smoking affects collagen and elastin – the two important elements that give skin its elasticity, thus causing sagging skin and deeper wrinkles. Nicotine is the one to blame for constricting blood vessels and depriving skin of oxygen and nutrients, resulting in dull and uneven skin complexion that can begin at a young age.
Drinking enough water daily is important for our overall health because water aids in digestion, circulation, absorption and excretion. It is also good for proper skin health since it was proven that drinking water gives us a radiant, healthy, younger-looking complexion. Keep in mind that if your skin is not getting a sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky. Also, it’s important we apply a hydrating moisturizer within minutes of leaving the bath or shower.
Protect your skin from the sun
It is vital for the health of our skin to use sunscreen during the summer and not only. A broad spectrum sunscreen lotion that protects against both UVA and UVB radiation should be applied to the skin at least 15 to 30 minutes before going outside. Make sure the sunscreen is water resistant and has a SPF of 30 or higher. Also, it is necessary to reapply it every two hours, or every hour if you are swimming or sweating, and don’t forget to use a lip balm or lipstick that contains sunscreen with SPF of at least 30.
